This beautiful terrace apartment of 153m2 is conveniently located on the ground floor of an apartment building with two private parking spaces. The apartment consists of two bedrooms, one of which is an en suite bedroom with a private bathroom with shower and a second bathroom in the apartment hall to support the guests that stay in the second bedroom. The living room has a sofa-bed that sleeps two extra guests, two armchairs, a TV with international channels and a dining space with a table that sits six people comfortably. The kitchen is spacious and has a small eating area where you can enjoy breakfast. The apartment has a wi-fi connection and AC throughout. Upon request and with a cost we can provide a baby cot.

The quarter of the Pena which comprises the Sant’Ana hill is one of the oldest historical quarters. In 1580 died here the famous poet Luis de Camões, author of « Os Lusiadas » and in 1920 was born in the same place Amalia Rodrigues, the well-known Portuguese fadista. The area owes even more history, in this very building where the accommodation is, lived Antero de Quental who had had an extensive letter exchange with the famous writer Eça de Queiroz for years. This quiet neighborhood has still many XVIIIth et XIXth century palaces, like the Palace of Bemposta, the residence of the queen D.Catarina de Bragança, widow of King Charles II of England, in the early XVIIIth century. Only 100 mètres away, have a walk in the garden of Campo dos Mártires da Pátria, a green space in the center of the city with a public parking lot. Here you will be surprised by the spontaneous religious fervor of Portuguese people who have honored the statue of doctor Sousa Martins in front of the faculty of medicine for more than a century. Don’t forget that you are located at the top of a hill and go to the Miradouro/ Garden of Torel and admire the view over the occidental part of the city, the avenue of Liberdade, the Eduardo VII Park, and the São Roque hill. We have two choices: One is if you want to go down to the center and towards Rossio or two if you want to go by the avenue da Liberdade: walking down the calçada de Santana, a very steep slope leading to the squares of Rossio with many restaurants and shopping zones or alternatively (and a MUST for the return) take the funicular of Lavra, the first transportation to overcome the hill 120 years ago, it links the Largo da Anunciada (at the foot of the hill) with the Travessa do Forno do Torel (at the top).

Clean and compact

Ground floor and use of patio area. Clean and compact. Steep hills not suitable for elderly or infirmed especially in wet weather. Wait for construction work to end was noisy and also felt like walls were caving in. We were made aware of construction work a few days before we arrived but the work was obviously well started before we booked so until such time the work is ongoing advise people when booking rather than suggest you may cancel and look for another apartment a few days before arriving. Moderno e Novo

From
