This house dates back to 1890 but was renovated at the end of 2012. The property maintains the spirit of times past but with the comforts, the present and has been decorated with taste. All rooms including the kitchen and the bathrooms have been painted with Venetian Plaster, and the house has been tastefully furnished with mixed rustic and modern decor and comfortable furniture, including the typical St. Andrew wooden crossbeams.

There are 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms in this 1st floor flat, and two extra single beds can be placed in the property to allow up to 8 guests to stay here. Both the living room and two of the bedrooms have windows and narrow balconies that overlook a small picturesque street that ends at the beautiful Convent of the Encarnação.

The living area is divided from the fully-equipped kitchen by a typical wooden crossbeam structure that also serves as a handy kitchen bar to serve meals or sample a glass of good Portuguese wine. Next, to the kitchen, there is another large open space dining area, well-lit with natural light coming in from the enormous window which makes the entire area bright and cheerful.

The living area has one sofa, a flat-screen cable TV, a coffee table and other furnishings. There is also a large dining table and chairs, should you decide to stay inside. Two of the bedrooms have a double bed, one of them measuring 1.60m x 2m and the other 1.50m x 2m, and the third bedroom has 2 singles (0.90m x 2m).

Situated in the heart of Lisbon just around the corner from Rossio Square, the downtown Baixa area and within walking distance of the famous Chiado and Bairro Alto districts, this apartment is located on the 1st floor of a renovated 19th-century building. Despite the proximity of downtown one almost has the impression of being in the countryside due to the silence that prevails throughout the day.

From this location, you can easily access the major sights of Lisbon, such as the nearby Castle of St. George, Lisbon Cathedral, Alfama, the Santa Justa Elevator and many little typical but also cool bars and restaurants, as well as traditional Fado houses. The transport such as the metro and train are within 5 minutes walk at Rossio Square, and so it is easy to visit the magical town of Sintra from here. However, if you decide to walk another 10 minutes you can also take a train from Cais do Sodré to the beautiful beaches of the Estoril Coast.

The nearby Baixa area has lots of excellent cafeterias and restaurants, as well as wonderfully large squares to visit such as Rossio, Restauradores and the Praça do Comércio where you can enjoy a drink outside at terrace cafés, or sit by the riverfront enjoying the sunshine.
