Casa Convento Rossio
- SQM 120
This apartment, perfect for large groups, is located in the Pena neighborhood next to the Baixa downtown area, one of the oldest parts of Lisbon. The district is distinguished by its diversity of buildings, constructed as parts of different architectural trends over the centuries. The neighborhood is quiet and perfectly located for both exploring the sights and enjoying the city's nightlife.
The apartment, on the second floor of a renovated 18th-century building, features two bedrooms with double beds (one with en-suite bathroom), as well as a third bedroom with two single beds and a small balcony overlooking the city, where it is possible to sit outside and enjoy the view.
Along with a sofa bed in the living room, such generous sleeping arrangements allow for maximum eight-person occupancy, perfect for a large family or group of friends.
The sunny living room features two large, full-length windows and a closed balcony, making it particularly bright and cheerful. There is a comfortable sofa bed for two, as well as a dining table and chairs, DVD player and sound, shelves and cable TV.
The fully-equipped kitchen has everything you might need for self-catering, including a gas stove and oven, fridge/freezer, microwave, washing machine, all cutlery and crockery, toaster, coffee maker and more. From here, you have access to a small outdoor patio overlooking the end of the Rossio and the ruins of the Carmo Convent.
Pena is a quiet neighborhood popular with embassies (Italian and German) but with the advantage of being close to nightlife areas and public transit. One of the oldest areas of the city, the neighborhoods are lined with houses full of character, almost always featuring the distinctive wrought-iron balconies and tiled facades so popular with Portuguese architects of the 1900s.
The area around the apartment features all kinds of traditional commerce, and the apartment itself is within walking distance of Lisbon's historic center and some of the best seafood restaurants in town. If you fancy nightlife, the Bairro Alto is a brief walk or trip on the Lavra Lift (the oldest funicular in Lisbon) away.
For those venturing farther afield, there are two public car parks within 3 minutes walk, as well as train and metro stations to take you to the Cascais beaches or other parts of Portugal.
The apartment is just around the corner from the Rossio square, perhaps the most central in Lisbon, and therefore makes the perfect base for your stay, since you can walk from here to all the major tourist areas.
