The Alfama II is situated in a building dating back to the 1720s and is full of charm and character, just like Alfama itself. The apartment is a split level Duplex with the bedroom in a lofted mezzanine. The apartment is cozy and romantic and perfectly located in the old town of Lisbon.
The living area downstairs is comfortable and full of natural light. There is a lovely comfortable wooden floor throughout as well as bright fresh neutral decor. There is a comfortable sofa-bed that can accommodate an extra guest, with is a TV with cable channels and Wi-Fi internet. There is a small dining table to one side located in front of the balcony so that you can look out over the traditional patio whilst relaxing and dining.
The kitchenette is tucked away in the corner and has been equipped with all the necessary cooking essentials such as a hob, microwave, and fridge. There is a modern bathroom with an excellent sized shower unit. The apartment also has air-conditioning.
Up the wooden staircase, you will find the charming bedroom with the sloping ceiling and exposed woodwork. There is a large double bed with a comfortable mattress and an additional mattress pad for extra comfort. There are two reading lights either side of the bed that also create a homely romantic atmosphere. There is also a skylight window and wooden flooring.
The Alfama Penthouse is located in the central and traditional neighborhood of Alfama, being so central it is also a great spot for setting off to explore Lisbon by foot. Alfama is one of the oldest parts of town having survived the great earthquake in 1755, the antique buildings line the old winding streets it really is a charming piece of history.
In Alfama, you will find many typical Portuguese restaurants, cafe's and shops as well as some magnificent old building such as the cathedral the Sé. Alfama is particularly famous for its historical association with Fado music, the soulful folk music of Portugal. In Alfama, you will find many of the best Fado restaurants where you can listen to authentic and genuine Fado music while feasting on traditional Portuguese dishes.
Some of the main attractions in the nearby area include the famous flea market the Feira da Ladra, The National Pantheon, The São Vicente monastery and of course the nº28 tram that gracefully journeys through the historical streets.
