Location and Surroundings

The apartment is located in the traditional Mouraria district, called the "birthplace of Fado". It is just 3 minutes from the central Martim Moniz square, where there is a convenient Metro station, several bus stops, and where the famous Number 28 Tram stops also. Just a little further, 5 minutes away, you can find the Rossio square, possibly Lisbon's most central area, where there is another convenient Underground station.

The Martim Moniz square is also home to the "Centro Comercial Martim Moniz" shopping centre, and there are plenty of shops, chemist's and supermarkets all within easy walking distance. The area is also home to many restaurants, bars and cafeterias.

The central squares of Rossio and Praça do Comercio are just 10-15 minutes walk from here, making this a great base for your stay.

From this apartment it is possible to walk to Lisbon Castle in just 11 minutes (800 metres distance) according to Google Maps.

NOTE: This is a 3rd floor apartment in an old traditional area of central Lisbon, where the buildings don't have lifts/elevators and is therefore not suitable for wheelchair users or guests with mobility problems.

In the Martim Moniz square, you can enjoy the Food Court and the Mercado de Fusão "Fusion Market". The Food Court is basically a series of quiosques in the middle of the square serving many different types of cuisine: chinese, indian, portuguese, afracan, japanese and many more. These multi-cultuyral restaurants are open every day of the year and at weekends there are all kinds of activities such as concerts, workshops, debates, etc.

The Mercado de Fusão itself is held at weekends and consists of a number of small stalls selling clothes, jewelry, groceries and much more. The video below gives a good overview of the possibilities:

Additional information

- This is a non-smoking apartment and no pets are allowed.
- There is a 150 euros damage deposit, which will be refunded in full as long as no damage is done to the apartments (this amount will be increased to 250 euros for stays of longer than 4 weeks, and to 600 euros for stays of more than 2 months)
- Standard check-in from 3pm (15h00) and check-out before 12pm (12h00); however, you can almost always leave your bags, or if there are no other guests arriving/departing on the same day we will do our best to arrange an earlier check-in or later check-out at no extra cost, please just ask.
- Surcharge for late check-in after 10pm (22h00): 25 euros, but there is no additional cleaning fee.
- There is no lift or elevator in the building, making accessibility very difficult for wheelchair users, the physically impaired or those with mobility problems. Please note that in the historic centre of Lisbon, there are virtually no residential buildings with lifts. 

Please note that from the 1st of January 2016, Lisbon City Council will be charging a city tax of EUR 1 per person per night which is not included in the total price and should be paid during check-in. This tax is charged to guests aged 13 and older. It is subject to a maximum amount of EUR 7 per guest.

The apartment is simply great. Both the location and the quality are excellent. We loved being in the middle of city and be able to walk anywhere. The balcony is superb. The view, the feeling of being above the city is priceless. Thanks for the experience! We'll be back.

We enjoyed our stay very much at the Mouraria Duplex. Great view and perfectly located for exploring Lisbon. Close to Martim Moniz Metro and E28 Station, the Alfama and lot of sights are in walking distance, too. Definitely recommendable!

Very nice apartment.easily reachable from Martim Moniz square by different ways. Perfect equipped with everything you might need. We had a very good time there. Nice terrace with great view to square, city and castle.

Apartment is very good. terrace is superb and has excellent view. Breakfasts on terrace - fantastic :). Location is great - close to Alfama, close to Baixa, even close to Bairro alto. Tram 28 - 2 minutes away, metro - 3 minutes away. one disadvantage is bathroom - quite small and needs little renovation. Owner is very helpful and kind - no problem with anything :) thank you

Points forts: terrasse ensoleillée du matin au soir, situation très centrale, quartier très sympa, Accueil sympa et efficace. Strong point: roof terrasse, very central area. Points faibles: l'appartement a vieilli et certaines pièces mériteraient une rénovation (particulièrement la salle de bain qui sent le moisi et encore nous avons eu un temps sec et chaud! mais aussi les fenêtre qui n'isolent rien de la rue: bruit ou chaleur/froid), la propreté laisse un peu à désirer sur la sdb et sur les draps notamment. Week point: renovation would be great, especially bathroom and windows. It could also be cleaner ! Pour venir en Taxi compter plutôt 20€ et bien préparer le trajet ! A part cela, super appart plein de charme que nous avons grandement apprécié ! Great place to stay, we loved it !

Appartement très agréable avec sa terrasse ensoleillée. Belle vue sur la ville. L'appartement n'est pas très grand, mais très fonctionnel et bien équipé. Il est proche du centre et des principaux quartiers (15 mn à pied de la place du commerce) et à 4 mn du métro Martin moniz ainsi que l'arrêt du tram 28. Pas mal de commerces dans ce quartier populaire, mais très typique avec ses petites ruelles. Attention ça grimpe pas mal pour arriver dans la rue qui n'est pas accessible aux voitures. L'appartement est au 3 ème étage. Nous avons apprécié et nous recommandons cet appartement :)

Absolutely blown away with this little find. A fantastic well maintained apartment with everything you could need, fridge, freezer, kettle, toaster, oven, hobs, shower, toilet, dining table, iron, upstairs bedroom and a beautiful terrace with a great view of Lisbon's nightlife. Was overly impressed with the service we got, early check in, map to give to the taxi driver to get us from the airport, and a map of how to walk to the apartment. The apartment is in the best location too right in the middle of where it is all happening. Thank you

We loved our stay! The apartment was clean, well maintained, and in a perfect location. We were within walking distance to almost everything we could want, including the metro and the tram 28 initial stop. The apartment is in a very cute neighborhood with lots of dining options and grocery nearby. Mauro was wonderful with check in and offered some great local suggestions. He was responsive and on time and we felt very at ease having him to rely on. We will definitely book again the next time we visit.

We just enjoyed a wonderful stay at this apartment. The location is great and we were able to walk everywhere. There are many good restaurants and stores nearby. The apartment had everything we needed. I especially enjoyed the terrace and being able to do my laundry and hang it out on the clothesline. The map given to us beforehand to get to the apartment was very useful as there is no car traffic on the road the apartment is located. Thank you!
