Detailed description

This spacious apartment has 3 double bedrooms, allowing a maximum of 6 guests to stay here comfortably. Located on the 1st floor of a classical building with no lift in the centre of Lisbon, the entrance hallway leads to the bright living room, which has a large sofa, flatscreen TV with cable channels and wi-fi Internet. A large window provides plenty of natural light. There is a door on the left which communicates with the separate dining room, where a lovely wooden table and 6 chairs provide seating for all guests.

On the other side of the living room there is a door which leads to the first of the three bedrooms. This room has 2 single beds, which can be used separately or pushed together if guests wish. There is a window to the exterior providing plenty of light and air, reading lamps, bedside tables and a wardrobe for storage. The other two bedrooms both have double beds and are pleasantly furnished in an uncluttered fashion.

The bathroom is birght and clean, decorated with white porcelain tiles and includes a full bathtub, bidet and shower

The kitchen is fully equipped and stove, oven, microwave, dish-washer, toaster, coffee-maker and all that is necessary for a fully self-catered stay. There is a washing machine also in the property.

The host is discreet and friendly, and a cot and baby chair are available on request.

All guests are offered a free tasting of excellent port wine (one free glass). If you wish, you may then select and purchase one of the excellent vintage port wines made available by your host (prices available in the apartment)

This apartment may be booked with others in the same building, allowing large groups or families to stay here, up to a total of 16 guests. The apartments are:
- Casa São Mamede I, 1st floor, three-bedroom apartment for up to 6 guests.
- Casa São Mamede II, 2nd floor, two-bedroom apartment for up to 4 guests.
- Casa São Mamede III, 2nd floor, three-bedroom apartment for up to 6 guests.

Location and Surroundings

Located just below the magnificent Lisbon castle, the Rua de São Mamede leads from the Baixa downtown area towards the traditional Alfama Old Town district, all the time skirting round the flanks for the São Jorge Castle above.

From here, it is a short walk to the central Rossio square, and then on to the Chiado shopping district and the Bairro Alto. In the other direction you can explore Alfama, climb up to the castle, or visit the ancient Cathedral, all within 15 minutes walk.

Around Rossio and towards the Praça do Comércio, there are plenty of cafés and traditional restaurants, and in fact just below the apartment there is one such restaurant.

Just round the corner from the apartment there is a large, well-stocked supermarket called 'Pingo Doce'.
