My friends and I had an amazing time at Ana and Dan's apartment. They were both very welcoming and informative when we arrived – giving us lots of tips about Lisbon and the area around the apartment. Ana had even printed out a little map and marked on the local supermarket etc, very thoughtful. The apartment itself is lovely – exactly like the photos. There were 3 of us and it never felt small. We even had some friends over for dinner one evening and it was a perfect entertaining space. There is a bunk bed in one of the rooms so as adults, you may have to fight it out as to who sleeps in that! The terrace is great for breakfast as it gets lots of sun in the morning, and it literally backs onto the castle wall. It's nice and quiet all night too as the street is residential. The apartment is situated at the top of the hill so be prepared for the uphill climb home. However taxis are the cheapest I've ever come across in Europe – just 3 to 4 Euros from the other side of town, so we got lots of those at night. In the day, the walk did wonders for our calf muscles! The day before we left, Ana and Dan left us a bag of dried figs, quince and fresh satsumas to eat with our cheese. We never managed to get through it all but it was lovely of them to do so. Ana called us a taxi to the airport when we left and rounded off an altogether perfect Lisbon experience. I would not hesitate in staying in this apartment again. Ana and Dan are great hosts.

The apartment is lovely and offers a unique set up for a large group given the number of bedrooms. The furnishings are simple, but in great shape and the unit is immaculate. The kitchen is well stocked. The terrace and yard are an additional living space as well. We had a little difficulty learning to use the hot water heater, central heating and other mechanical systems but Ana and Dan were very patient. The apartment is very near the castle with great views but with some serious climbing to get up and down to the major areas of Lisbon. Be prepared! The immediate neighborhood is not particularly scenic but very safe and the building is lovely. We really appreciated Ana and Dan's help and advice on everything from where to eat to arranging for a taxi to the airport. They are great hostsand did everything possible to make our stay in Lisbon very enjoyable
