CUSTOMER COMMENTS & REVIEWS
Livia Kun (4 adults, 16 - 23 July, 2011):
We had a great time in Lisbon which was partly because of our excellent apartment. The owner was very helpful and understanding. The flat was well equipped and clean. I am sure I will recommend it to my friends who wants to visit Lisbon!
Inma Mirelis (3 adults, 9 - 11 July, 2011):
It was first time in lisbon and we spend 2 days in this apartment, really confortable, clean and serious from Roger who take care of our needs. We will recomand absolutly this apartment.
Monsey Chan (4 adults, 24 - 26 June, 2011):
Great location for Lisbon sightseeing, friendly and helpful welcome from Roger. There were four of us at the apartment which was a bit cosy but for a weekend away, it has everything you need including wifi and aC. Great value and would recommend to our friends.
Anne Thyssen (3 adults, 18 - 20 June, 2011):
The aparment itself was fairly small, but was perfectly comfortable for 2 to 3 people. Location was very central to all sights. It was great to meet Roger at the Mundial Hotel as the apartment would have been quite difficult to find! This apartment is on the third floor, so be ready for some exercise when you first arrive with your bags.
Matthew Keaney (2 adults, 26 - 28 April, 2011):
I would recommend staying here to anyone other than those who are unable to climb too many steps, the plus side of the climb is of course the views one can enjoy from the living or sleeping areas. The apartment is in a building that has real character and has been tastefully modernised and is a short walk to all major attractions. Many thanks to Roger who could not have been more helpful when we first arrived!
Raymond Huebel (2 adults, 13 - 20 April, 2011):
John Kell (4 adults, 29 March - 8 April, 2011):
The central location of the apartment made it possible for us to walk everywhere: from alfama to Bairro alto, and from Cais do Sodre to Parque Eduardo VII. We did take the historic tram 28 (a three-minute walk from the apartment) and the ultra-modern Lisbon metro (a five-minute walk from the apartment) a couple of times when we had appointments. For our day trips to Sintra, Belem, and Cascais, we took the inexpensive trains from the Rossio train station (a ten-minute walk from the apartment).
Our aim on this trip was to get to know as much about Lisbon as we could in just over a week. Thanks in no small part to this lovely apartment, we feel we have succeeded. We certainly recommend this apartment to others, and would definitely return for another visit.
Scott Petoff (2 adults, 21 - 28 December 2010):
I already told you about the hot water which we didn't realize was off when we arrived. The internet worked perfectly with good high quality bandwidth which was very helpful with web browsing and when watching a movie on our computer one evening. The cable TV also had many channels (more than we get at home) and it was helpful to watch some Portuguese TV during our visit.
The bed was very comfortable and the bedroom quiet, so we got a terrific night sleep every night. The apartment only came with one set of bath towels so having a second set would have been helpful, especially since there is a washer but no dryer and hanging towels outside was a risk during this mostly rainy period. We made coffee several times and the percolator was fine though a french press would have been a welcome addition to the fully stocked kitchen.
I'm glad you had space heaters as it did get cold during much of our stay and it helped to keep the downstairs warm.
Our reply:
Hi Scott, indeed, the water heater was simply turned off and had to be started again - we'll check that next time. I don't know what happened with the towels - we normally always provide 2 sets for stays of a week or more. If you had mentioned it we would have brought you some extra ones immediately, but hopefully it wasn't too much of a problem. Many thanks for your comments!
best wishes, Roger.

Our 3 weeks in Portugal was really a magical trip. Nothing went wrong the whole time. The apartment was great, we were very comfortable and the location was perfect for exploring the city. We will definately recomend to our friends to stay in one of your places if they visit Lisbon.
Thanks for being helpful and making us feel welcome.
Anna Wezel (4 adults, 2 - 7 August, 2010):
for me everything was perfect, from the first contact via mail to the apartment. Everything was as promised in the internet.
Thanks again, we really enjoyed our stay!
Tara Johnson (4 adults, 25 - 28 July, 2010):
We'd like to come again some time in the future. The apartment was charming and comfortable and had everything we needed for self-catering. The washing machine came in handy (we were pleasantly surprised to find the clothes line below the kitchen window), and the round bed was quite an experience.
We also appreciated the aircon and wireless internet - essential for surviving Lisbon's heat and organising our activities. The location was also fantastic - super close to Rossio Station, which made it easy to do our day trip to Sintra. We didn't realise it at first but the apartment is also really close to a bunch of small restaurants in the nearby lanes.
All in all we had a great stay and would recommend to any travellers looking for central, self-catering accommodation in Lisbon.
Lisa Ford (2 adults, 9 - 13 July, 2010):
The bed was the most comfortable we had slept in, and the apartment was clean and well furnished. It felt like our home away from home! We will definitely be recommending the apartment to family and friends travelling to Lisbon.
Thanks again Roger, we hope to return one day.

Patrick Meraldi (2 adults, 24 - 28 June, 2010):
We will certainly recommend it to friends who will visit Lisbon in the future.
Katie Baigrie (2 adults, 10 - 15 June, 2010):
Thank you for helping to make our stay so comfortable and relaxing! I've no doubt you'll be hearing again from us in the future as we'd love to be able to explore more of the city at a later date.
Ken & Cindy Hernder (2 adults, 24 - 27 April 2010):
We certainly did enjoy our Mouraria apt. stay!
For our first visit to Lisbon, the central location was excellent for easy tram, metro & bus access. We felt quite secure even returning late at night with that street lamp just opposite it's entry door. The uphill, upstairs location mght be difficult for some, but the view makes it well worth the effort!
We appreciated how well equipped it was - including the kitchen - even though we only had time to basically crash there with a couple of breakfasts eaten in, it could provide all necessities easily for a longer stay. We didn't discover the best grocery store (just off Rossio Square) until the 2nd last day or we may have been tempted to cook a little more. But then, that's what holidays are for...
(just remembered: as far as we could translate packaging, the powdered detergent as well as the liquid both seemed to be for laundry so we just ran the dishwasher without any - seemed to work fine - minor thing)
Thanks again for the Tromba Rija recommendation - loved it! We tried to find a decent Fado house our last evening, but our GPS literally had us going in circles on foot - so next time some better planning ahead will be called for.
We will certainly recommend the apt. to any/everyone & will post on tripadvisor soon (unless you prefer another travel site?). Was so nice to meet the beautiful Paula as well - how about that timing?!
We still marvel at how you managed to renovate so well (Ikea is very big here as well so we recognized most of the fittings) & especially wonder how you got that huge bed up there?!
Hope all was found in order after our departure. Our connecting flight in Heathrow was uneventful - downright boring, in fact! Missing the aftermath of the volcano's effects was a good thing, we will admit.
If ever in our part of the planet, do look us up - we'd like that.
Best regards, The Hernders of Niagara
Chris & Stuart Hutchins (2 adults, 25 - 31 March 2010):
If we were to really ask for anything more, it would only be superfluous luxuries like a cd player/radio. We had a lovely welcome from Anna when we arrived and it's fine that you weren't around when we left - thanks for trusting us with the deposit. It was also nice to have your support when we had the plug issue (hope that's ok now).
We would sincerely recommend others visiting Lisbon to stay there.
Best wishes, Christine and Stuart
Our reply:
Thanks for your kind comments. The apartment has several different cutting knives (although perhaps not a specific bread knife) and there should be 2 different cutting boards, but we'll check it again and also consider your suggestion for the CD/radio.
Olimpia Ciripoiu (2 adults, 27 - 30 November, 2009):
We are already giving your references to our friends who plan to visit Lisbon.
All the best, Olimpia.
Louis & Nancy McGrath (2 adults, 2 - 9 November, 2009):
Having just spent a week at this apartment on Rua das Fontainhas near Largo Martin Moniz we can assure you that you will be pleasantly surprised. The apartment is immaculate and uncluttered. Very modern. Satellite TV with lots of English and Portuguese stations. Wireless internet with a strong signal.
The bedroom loft was a nice touch, feels very removed from the downstairs area and is quite romantic. The round bed was novel and very comfortable. And the skylights allow a wonderful view over the city.
And the location, while on a very quiet street, is very proximate to the center of all the activity in Lisbon. Praca Figueira is at most a 7-10 minute stroll and the 28 Tram and Metro stations are even closer.
But what was equally appreciated was the attention of the owners. The apartment was reserved at the very last minute and we left the US not even certain of the exact address. Upon arrival we called one of the owners, who directed the taxi driver and was patiently waiting at the apartment for us, after an hour plus delay in the airport. And both owners made several contacts via phone and email to ensure that we were satisfied.
All in all a wonderful stay in a wonderful apartment.
Louis and Nancy, Coopersburg, Pa.
P.S. Do note that this apartment requires a bit of a climb. So it's not for anyone who may have mobility problems.
Sara Andersson (1 adult, 23 August - 28 October, 2009):
There are many stairs, both outside and inside the house, but for people with good legs that's not a problem, it's just a part of the charm.
Javier Alonso Ortega (4 adults, 8 - 11 August, 2009):
TRANSLATION: We liked the apartment a lot. I was the one who found the apartment and the only one of us who had seen the photos,
so I knew more or less what it was like, but when the others arrived they really liked
it and said it was a great choice.
When travelling, we normally rent apartments instead of going to a hotel and this is the best equipped apartment I've seen until now. It has everything, and according to what the owners told us, we were the first guests.
The only thing I would say, and it's of no real importance, is that the sheets for the sofa-bed didn't fit, or at least we didn't know how to make them fit, but it wasn't a problem at all. For the rest, we loved our stay there.
If I return to Lisbon, it will be the first place I look at to book, and I'll recommend it to everybody I know.
