The beautiful city of Lisbon

Walking Tours in Alfama, Lisbon

Lisbon's Alfama is a medieval district that remains one of the city's most charming neighbourhoods. It's a maze of twisting lanes and alleys, best discovered on a walking tour.

Now you can go on a special guided tour up and down the city's steepest hill, discovering sights and sites that most tourists miss. It starts down by the river, passing by the curious Casa dos Bicos, and proceeds up the hill towards the medieval cathedral. See where Saint Anthony of Padua was baptized 800 years ago, and explore Roman Lisbon through the displays of the Roman Theatre Museum.

It is all a reminder of Lisbon's remarkably long past and how it has survived over the centuries. The fantastic views from Santa Luzia and Portas do Sol viewpoints are next, providing an opportunity for some postcard-worthy photos. From the viewpoints the tour goes back down the hill, descending steps and narrow streets lined with colourful houses and the fountains that gave Alfama its name.
